ROME – An Italian 28-year-old man beat his mother to death in the bathroom of their house on Saturday during a furious row sparked by her refusal to fetch him a glass of water, Italian media reported.

Ciro Ciccarelli, who has struggled for years with a drug habit and had a tempestuous relationship with his mother according to the reports, was found in an agitated state in the house in Scampia near Naples, with scratches all over his face.

Ciccarelli tried to flee the scene but was arrested for the murder of Anna Fiume, 52, after admitting to the police that he had kicked and beaten his mother to death in a fit of rage in the early hours of the morning.
