Baker killed by co-worker

/ 02:08 AM June 11, 2013

A bakery worker was stabbed dead as he was sleeping in his bed before dawn Monday in Quezon City while the police said they were looking for his coworker.

The bloodied body of Jorge Arano, 19, was found on a folding bed inside the bakery on Capoas Street in Barangay (village) Masambong. Case investigator SPO1 Johnny Mahilum said the victim was a stay-in worker at the bakery.

Days before he was killed, he had a fight with a coworker whom he caught sleeping while on duty. Police are now looking for the co-worker who was identified as Gaudioso Lumbag, 23. Arano was found at 1:30 a.m. Monday by another bakery helper, Romel Paler. Paler had just arrived and was about to wake the victim when he noticed the blood.

Lumbag, on the other hand, was nowhere to be found. Mahilum said the victim was probably stabbed in his sleep because there were no signs of any struggle. A bloodstained fan knife was found nearby. The police learned that the victim and the suspect had a fight a few days ago when the former called out to the latter several times after a buyer asked for pandesal.
