2 dead, 1 hurt as truck loses control in Quezon
MANILA, Philippines— Two people were killed and one was injured when the truck they were riding figured in an accident in Quezon before dawn Monday, police said.
Senior Superintendent Benito Estipona, Calabarzon regional director, said the incident transpired at Barangay (village) Lungib in Quezon province around 1:30 a.m. involving an Isuzu truck (ZGG 221) loaded with 1000 sacks of cement.
Estipona said the truck, driven by one Emmanuel Marquez, was on its way to Cavite when it allegedly lost its brakes and hit several coconut trees.
Marquez was killed along with one Ligaya Arida, while truck helper Teodorico Anabo, he said.
Anabo was rushed to St. Peter’s General Hospital, while the fatalities were taken to the Sutarez Funeral Home.
A radio report said the three were sitting in front of the truck.
