Based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) latest computed heat indices, Guiuan is again forecast to hit the “extreme danger” category or a peak heat index of 52ºC on Tuesday.

According to Pagasa, a heat index beyond 52ºC is automatically tagged as part of the “extreme danger” classification.

At this level, Pagasa warns that heat stroke is imminent.

The Department of Health advised the public to stay hydrated and avoid sodas, iced tea, coffee and alcoholic drinks. Wear loose and light clothes, limit outdoor activities, and protect against the sun, such as caps, umbrellas and sun protection lotion to avoid heat-related illnesses.
