Valenzuela public hospital staff to undergo training

In a bid to improve the quality of its service, the city government-run Valenzuela City Emergency Hospital (VCEH) has tied up with a leading private hospital to provide training to its staff.

Officials of VCEH and St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) signed a memorandum of understanding earlier this month under which doctors and personnel between the two hospitals would exchange knowledge through various activities throughout the year.

“For the hospital staff, this will eventually lead to a boost in their confidence as their capabilities will increase. Meanwhile, for patients, their confidence in our staff will also increase, knowing that they are somewhat experiencing the St. Luke’s brand of healthcare,” Dr. Rolando Tecson, VCEH chief, said in an interview.

Under the memorandum of understanding, the two hospitals will have knowledge, skills and expertise sharing in various forums. SLMC will provide speakers for continuing education and joint conferences while VCEH doctors will also be invited to international conferences sponsored by their private counterpart.

For his part, Dr. Joven Cuanang, chief medical officer of SLMC, said they were committed to helping VCEH uplift the level of services it offers.

“First, we are looking at helping them out in terms of how to make healthcare very safe. We have programs we can line up for the staff where we can share our experiences in patient care…,” he said.
