Suspended cop detained

OLONGAPO CITY–A suspended policeman accidentally shot and killed a fellow officer as they discussed their midyear bonus inside Camp Cabal, the city police station in Barangay Barretto here.

PO1 Alexander Sanico Quiming, who has been serving a two-month suspension on an administrative charge, accidentally shot PO1 Rogene Abad Estrada in the chest, said Senior Supt. Rodolfo Recomono Jr., Olongapo police director.

Quiming and Estrada were talking about their midyear bonus at 8:40 a.m. on Monday when Quiming began playing with a .38-cal. revolver. The gun discharged, hitting Estrada, who was 2 meters away. Estrada died before reaching Our Lady of Lourdes International Medical Center here.
