NBI to conclude inquiry on shoplifting slay case
The National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI-7) said it will wrap up its investigation on the death of suspected shoplifter Mario Alfie Ducayag this week.
“We’re almost done with our investigation. Basically, what is needed is just the statement of the mother (Fe Soledad),” NBI Regional Director Antonio Pagatpat said yesterday.
Ducayag’s family and their lawyer Wendell Quiban will meet with the NBI-7 this afternoon.
There are conflicting versions of who mauled the customer. Jeffrey Aquino, a security camera operator of Gaisano Metro Colon, who was let go after the incident, went to the NBI last week to give his side.
Aquino denied that he was responsible for Ducayag’s brutal interrogation inside the department store last April 12.
He claimed that it was the store’s chief security officer, Mauricio Doblados Jr., who mauled Ducayag.
