P4M jewelry, valuables taken from retired gov’t employee’s house in QC
MANILA, Philippines — A retired government employee lost some P4 million in jewelry and valuables to burglars who broke into their home on Sunday afternoon in Quezon City.
The suspects forced open the front door of the house of Evelyn Gotladera, 64, and ransacked its rooms while the family was out.
The case investigator, Police Officer 2 Roldan Cornejo, said the burglars apparently struck on Sunday morning at the family home in Barangay (village) Roxas District.
The family lost P100,000 in cash, jewelry, land titles, credit cards and ATM cards totalling P4 million, which police said were kept in various drawers.
Cornejo said the still unidentified suspects possibly scaled the concrete fence of the house and used a crow bar to destroy the front door’s lock.
Once inside, the burglars also destroyed the lock of the door of the master bedroom before ransacking its drawers.
