QC to release mid-year bonuses of 5,000 city employees before end of May
MANILA, Philippines — It could be Christmas in May for more than 5,000 regular Quezon City hall employees who will be paid their mid-year bonuses before the end of the month.
Mayor-elect Herbert Bautista has prescribed the guidelines for the payment of the mid-year bonus, which employees are anticipated to allocate for the school needs of their children, particularly with the looming class opening.
In a memorandum, Bautista instructed the locality’s budget, accounting and treasury departments to release available funds for the payment not later than May 30 of the city workers’ benefits.
The mid-year bonus is equivalent to half of an employee’s basic monthly salary plus P2,500, half of the cash gift to workers.
The lowest ranked employee of the city stands to receive at least P7,300 as his mid-year bonus.
Elective and appointive regular plantilla city-paid personnel are entitled to the payment of their mid-year bonus as long as they rendered four months of service from January 1 to April 30, 2013, including leave of absence with pay.
