DZIQ: Landslide victims receive P5,000 DSWD shelter assistance
MANILA, Philippines – Victims of the landslide that hit a mining area in Kingking village, Compostela Valley have received P5,000 worth of emergency shelter assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, a Radyo Inquirer report quoted a Malacañang official as saying Tuesday.
The DSWD has distributed the money to the local residents and will continue to distribute food packs for them in the next few days, Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said.
Lacierda also said that DSWD was willing to assess qualified local residents who have lost their jobs in their self-employment assistance program.
He said that the government would force residents who choose to remain in the area to evacuate after the Mines and Geosciences Bureau of the DENR declared the place “unsafe.”
