Outgoing Rep. Pablo John Garcia of Cebu’s 3rd district will decide whether to pursue an election protest against incoming Cebu Gov. Hilario Davide III after checking with his lawyer.
He said he would meet today with former Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal who is due to fly in from Manila.
Larrazabal  headed the steering committee that oversaw the conduct of the first automated polls in 2010 then retired from the Comelec in February 2011. He maintains a private law practice.

“I am very careful about issuing any statement at this time about the conduct of the elections,”Garcia said a day earlier.
“I want to be sure more than anything else to keep the people’s faith in the electoral process,” he said
He also earlier accused Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo, regional police chief, of fielding policemen in the towns near One Cebu bailiwicks to “harass” followers.
Provincial Board (PB) Member Julian Daan said Pablo John, who attended a closed-door lunch on Thursday with the Garcias and allied mayors, said Pablo John won’t be protesting the results of the election.
He said other One Cebu candidates were advised that if they have complaints there were lawyers who could help them.
“”Mo-concede man si PJ… Dili man siya mo-protesta. Nakadawat naman siya… Dili siya mo-protest sa resulta (PJ will concede…he won’t protest. He has accepted it. He won’t protest the results),” said Daan.
Pablo John said he received reports about problems with compact flash cards and other discrepancies but declined to give details pending his meeting with Larrazabal.
The lunch was an “emotional” gathering “to thank” One Cebu leaders for their support in the election, said Naga City Mayor Valdemar Chiong.
Chiong said Pablo John and elder sister, suspended Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, thanked mayors for their help in the campaign.
“After all that work, unya paninguha, wala ma-successful. Mao na-emotional gyud,” he told CDN.
“Anugon si PJ (What a waste for PJ) but in the end, we could always work with anybody,” said Chiong.
One Cebu has most of the 50 city and town mayors of Cebu province in its fold.
Despite this Davide, Liberal Party-Cebu (LP-Cebu) gubernatorial candidate, won with a margin of over 130,000 votes. Gwen on the 3rd district congressional seat.
Their father, outgoing Rep. Pablo Garcia of Cebu’s 2nd district lost his re-election bid to Provincial Board (PB) member Wilfredo Caminero.
Another brother, Barili Vice Mayor Marlon Garcia, lost to re-elected Barili Mayor Teresito Mariñas.
