2 soldiers killed as convoy securing PCOS delivery ambushed in Kalinga
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Two soldiers were killed and six others hurt on Thursday morning when suspected communist rebels attacked a military convoy ferrying precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines to a village in Tabuk City in Kalinga, the Cordillera police said.
Corporals Wilfredo Bacacao and Allen Pattaguan were shot dead by the assailants as they traveled through Sitio (sub village) Patiking in Barangay (village) Dupag in Kalinga at 9:30 a.m., on a light utility truck along with other soldiers from the Army’s 17th Infantry Battalion, police said.
Wounded in the attack were Private First Class Delfin Goyagoy, Sergeants Rico de la Cuesta, Michael Adducul, Wayne Aguinaldo, Herminigildo Vergara and Constante Alupani.
