Visiting horsemen shine on Day 1

JESSEN  Sario led a 1-3 finish for Bohol in the premier Expert division as visiting horsemen won all but one of the seven divisions in the 2013 Cebu Horse Congress And Festival’s Obstacle Race yesterday at the South Road Properties (SRP) in Cebu City.

Sario finished first in the Expert class while Kobi Tan of Davao settled for second place. Banie Solugan also from Bohol rounded off the top three.

Other winners from out of town include Bohol’s Lance Senining, who topped the Kiddie division. Sean Melodia finished second.

In the Novice division, John John Galamiton from Malaybalay, Bukidnon finished first while Cagayan de Oro’s Amboy Ramonal and Bibo Pelaez finished second and third, respectively.

FEATURED STORIES

Another bet from Malaybalay, Virgil Tan,bagged first place in the Intermediate level while Patrick Eleazar took second place. Cebu Equine Owners Breeders Sportsman Association’s founder, Anton Quisumbing, settled for third.

The Royal division winners were Rhea Pelaez of Cagayan de Oro (first place), Cebu’s Jonathan Cinzano (second), and Danny Tariman of Cebu (third).

Jemson Pelaez of Cagayan de Oro clocked first in the Auxiliary category followed by Elimar Palalon (Bohol) and Jason Gonsalve (Cebu), respectively.

Cebu’s only first place winner yesterday was Kyle Miole, who topped the youth category. Ashley Senining (Cebu) placed second and Ethan Pelaez (Cagayan de Oro) wound up third.

Local and visiting cowboys and cowgirls are set to compete in the Barrel Race and Oval Race Finals today. The awarding dinner will follow tonight at the Parkmall in Mandaue City.   /correspondent Mark Tongco
