TCC chess team qualifying tournament slated May 1

THE best Cebuano junior wood pushers will compete in a qualifying tournament that will determine the members of Team Cebu City for the Philippine National Games.

The seven-round Swiss system qualifying tournament will start at 9 a.m. on May 1 at the Cebu City Sports Center.

It will use tie break rules such as direct encounter, bucholz, median bucholz and progressive tie breaks.

The tournament is open to players aged 16 years old with participants expected to come from various Cebu universities like University of San Carlos (USC), University of Cebu (UC), University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) and other noted schools.
