THE University of San Carlos Lady Warriors gun for their first win when they face off against the Arellano University Lady Chiefs today in the Shakey’s V-League at the Arena in San Juan City.

FEATURED STORIES

USC, the reigning Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) women’s champions, got blasted by two-time champions, Adamson University, 13-25, 22-25, 21-25, in their opening game the other day. Though the effort was there, mainly from Chona Gesulga, who had 10 kills and Suzette Panis, who tallied 15 points, victory eluded the Cebu squad as Adamson turned to their veterans to hack out the win.

Their opponent today is likewise aiming to barge into the win column. Arellano lost in four sets to National University in their first game but are tipped to win this affair behind their reinforcements Mary Jean Balse and Nerissa Bautista.

Meanwhile, after hurdling UST in three, Ateneo takes on another fancied team as it faces off with San Sebastian College in what promises to be another slam-bang duel of title contenders.

The Lady Eagles pulled off a surprising straight-set victory over the six-time champion Tigresses but they expect a tougher outing against the Lady Stags backstopped by two talented guest players, making the 4 p.m. Group A clash a match to watch. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
