18th Gullas Tennis Cup gets underway

LOCAL tennis buffs will once again see the famed Siso sisters—Sallydine and Sally Mae in action as they take part in the 18th Gullas Tennis Cup which comes off wraps today at the Cebu International Tennis Centre Inc. in Laray, Consolacion, Cebu.

The tournament has brought back the 21-Under category for this year’s edition to cater to college and varsity netters.

A total of eight netters will be playing in the category including the Sisos.

For their first assignments, Sallydine Siso will face Elgy Dasian while Sallymae Siso will go up against Christine Benita.

FEATURED STORIES

The other two matches will see Mary Claire Lazaga face Grace Melchor and Tricia Jabines battle Bianca Cenabre.

Seeing action in the men’s division are Fritz Satera vs. Jed Villarin; Jeffrey Jumawan vs. Gabriel Reconalla III; Marc Norman Enriquez vs. Joshua Bendoy and Christian Edolante vs. Amil Ayaay.

The tournament has gathered a total of 140 participants, lesser than last year which had 196 netters. Aside from the 21-Under, other categories to be contested are 12, 14, 16 and 18-Under in boys and girls division. A doubles competition will also be held.
