Magsaysay, UNA bets banking on Garcia allies for win
United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) senatorial candidates like Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay are banking on the clout of the Garcias and their allies in order to win votes in next month’s elections.
Magsaysay, who held meetings in Cebu City yesterday morning, pointed to the turnout in the UNA proclamation rally held in Cebu which gathered 25,000 people as proof of the influence of the Garcias among the Cebuano voters.
“(Suspended Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn) Garcia may be out (of the Capitol) but that doesn’t mean the governor also lost her power,” she said.
After the meetings, Magsaysay headed to Toledo City where Garcia and her brother Rep. Pablo John Garcia of Cebu’s 3rd district held a rally. Magsaysay vowed to represent the voice of the Cebuanos and the poor in the Senate.
Magsaysay also said she found it ironic that President Benigno Aquino III didn’t give any major projects in Cebu despite winning big in the province.
Cebu has a 2.5 million voting population.
