Cebu’s top beach volleyball teams vie in Talisay tourney

THE annual Talisay City Beach Volleyball Competition will from held on March 16,17 and 26 featuring Cebu’s top beach volleyball teams battling for exciting prizes at the Liberation Park in Poblacion, Talisay City.

The event is organized by the Talisay City government and the Talisay City Sports Commission and will feature five universities composed of the beach volleyball powerhouses Southwestern University (SWU) along with University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR), University of Cebu (UC), University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), University of San Carlos (USCC) and the University of the Visayas (UV).

Seeing action in the men’s division are SWU, USC, USPF and the one of the country’s best beach volleyball teams in the men’s division, UV, while USC, USPF, SWU and UC will field their best female beach spikers in the women’s category.

The tournament is a tune-up competition for a bigger battle this summer – the Nestea Beach Volleyball Competition in Moalboal, western Cebu.

FEATURED STORIES

Women’s teams will play a single round robin elimination on March 16 while the men will take the sand courts on March 17. The top two ranked squads in both divisions will then play for the crown on the 26th of March during the commemoration of the “Takas sa Talisay.”

The champion teams will take home P5,000 each while the runners-up will receive P3,000 and P1,000. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
