Eight persons, including two policemen, were hurt in a three-way vehicular smash-up which included a police car, another car and a sport utility vehicle just before dawn Sunday in Quezon City.

Fortunately, the injuries sustained by Police Officer 1 Efren Lagsa, PO2 Arnold Lising, Aurora Co, Michelle Co, Jelaiza Co, Mayeth de Guzman, Chino Ferrer and Audris Ferrer were minor.

In a report submitted by the Quezon City Police District’s traffic sector in Kamuning, the accident happened just before 2 a.m. at the intersection of Scout Ybardaloza and Scout Rallos Streets near Timog Avenue.

The impact sent both vehicles spinning out of control. The Pajero crashed into a Toyota Altis being driven by Antonio Carlos Tuanio on Scout Ybardolaza while the police car hit the gutter.

Traffic investigator PO2 Michael Rito said the three vehicles sustained a lot of damage. Their passengers also suffered slight injuries and were advised to seek treatment.

During an investigation, PO1 De Vera and the other policemen said that they were going after two men on a motorcycle when they hit the Pajero.

Their claim, however, was still under verification. Should De Vera be found liable for causing the accident, he could be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property and multiple physical injuries in the city prosecutor’s office.
