UV off to strong start in Bukidnon

CEBU SCHOOLS Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) runners-up University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers kicked off their bid in the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP) – 65th National Student Basketball Championship in style as they blasted the hosts Philippine College Foundation, 157-55, last Thursday in Don Carlos, Bukidnon province.

The Green Lancers sent a statement that they were for real in this brief six-team tournament as they seized the lead and never let go until the final buzzer.

UV was paced by brand new import Mike Nlzelsses, who had 35 points. Angelo Babia and Alfred Codilla each had 17 markers.

Meanwhile, the reigning NSBC champions Jose Maria College from Davao eased past Pilgrim College of Cagayan de Oro City, 95-72, while the University of Luzon from Pangasinan beat Philippine College of Foundation of Valencia,Bukidnon, 101-64./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
