Student, ex-inmate nabbed for ‘shabu’
Three men, including a third year high school student, were arrested for allegedly selling illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City.
A separate buy-bust operation in Cebu City led to the arrest of a 44-year-old man who was recently released from jail.
Spencer Malingin, 23, Alfie Daño, 23, and the 18-year-old high school student were arrested in barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City by operatives of the Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) and City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG).
Police said the three men sold two packs of suspected shabu worth P400 to a poseur-buyer on Monday night.
Insp. Rogelio Pineda, chief of CAIDSOTG, said Malingin received the marked money while Daño handed the packs of shabu to the poseur-buyer.
Malingin gave the money to the student before they were arrested. Police said 55 sachets of suspected shabu worth P1,000 were recovered from the possession of the student.
Article continues after this advertisementPolice said the suspects claimed they only started selling shabu in February. The three suspects will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 of the Dangerous Drugs Act, police said.
Article continues after this advertisementIn barangay Labangon, Cebu City, police arrested Edwin Bayno after he allegedly sold a pack of shabu worth P300 to a poseur-buyer.
Bayno, a resident of barangay Calamba, Cebu City, admitted he was previously jailed for drug charges and was only released last month.
