A lay leader of the Archdiocese of Cebu said they are coming up with a list of candidates to support in the May 13 election.

And they would “reformat” the controversial “Team Patay, Team Buhay” campaign launched by the Diocese of Bacolod City to avoid conflict with the Commission on Election (Comelec).

Dr. Rene Bullecer of the Human Life International said the campaign they would roll out in Cebu would only give emphasis on pro-life candidates.

“Nakita sad nato ug unsa ka kuyaw ang May 13 election. This is a do or die election. If the RH law passed, there is no reason why the proposed laws ondivorce, gay marriage and abortion could not pass,” he said during the 888 media forum held yesterday morning. “We see the May 13 election as very crucial.”

Bullecer said that if President Benigno Aquino’s allies will comprise the majority in the next House of Representatives and the Senate, he still has three years to pass laws that are long considered as immoral and anti-life by the Catholic Church. “We have to tell the people who are the candidates who respect the constitution and life,” he said.

Also, Cebu has to maintain its pro-life stature especially since the World Eucharistic Congress will be held here in 2016.

Bullecer said that Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma has already given his “marching orders” to bring their pro-life campaign even to the countryside as a lay initiative.

He said that they will also be coming up with a list and produce posters of pro-life candidates who deserve support after the Holy Week celebration.

The passage of the RH law, Bullecer said, will not put the Archdiocese of Cebu to rest. Instead, they are faced with a new challenge to campaign even harder and call all the faithfuls to reject the three other proposed bills.

The Bacolod Diocese came up with a list of senatorial candidates who opposed the RH bill under Team Buhay and those who voted for the approval of the bill under the Team Patay.
