Bright Minds booters face Bright Academy-A in q’final opener of Players 8-Mixed category

THE Players 8-Mixed category will begin its quarterfinal round today in the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Aboitiz Sports Field in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Bright Minds in Action Learning Village (BMALV) will go up against Bright Academy-A in the first quarterfinal match of the day.

BMALV advanced to the quarterfinal round by topping bracket A with 12 points while Bright Academy-A finished as the third best team with nine points.

Organizers had to come up with second and third best teams to complete the eight quarterfinalists because the category had only four brackets and only the top teams were made to advance to the knockout stages.

FEATURED STORIES

Lahug-B, which topped bracket B with 12 points, will face Hijas de Jesus, which finished as the second best team in the group stages also with nine points.

The third quarterfinal match will pit Don Bosco-3 against Ateneo de Cebu.

Don Bosco-3 ruled bracket C with 12 points while Ateneo dominated bracket F by winning all four of its elimination matches.

The remaining quarterfinal match will see Don Bosco-4 vying for a semifinal ticket against University of San Carlos- Basic Education (USC-BED).

Don Bosco-4 finished at the top of bracket D with 12 points while USC-BED topped bracket E.

Meanwhile, an exciting match will be offered in the Boys 17 as Don Bosco and Cebu International School (CIS) figure in a do-or-die match with the winner advancing to the semifinals. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
