NAIA coop leader gunned down

MANILA, Philippines—A transport cooperative leader at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was gunned down inside a canteen in Paranaque City early Tuesday, police said.

Edito Ruaya was allegedly shot before 6 a.m. by two unidentified gunmen inside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s cooperative canteen inside in Barangay (village) San Dionisio, Police Officer 2 Leonilo Quiambao said.

“Ang sabi ng isang witness, may napansin daw sila na dalawang lalake na sakay ng red na motorcycle na umaaligid sa labas around 5:30 p.m. (A witness said he noticed two men on board a red motorcycle who were loitering in the vicinity around 5:30 p.m.),” Quiambao said.

He said the witness claimed that it was after they went out when the suspects entered the canteen and shot Ruaya to his head. The suspects fled after the incident.

Quiambao said authorities have yet to identify the motive behind the attack.
