Palace lauds Zubiri act

Malacañang on Wednesday called on resigned Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri to help restore the dignity of the Philippine electoral process.

“Any contribution he makes can be vital in restoring the people’s mandate in giving Filipinos the meaningful electoral reforms they rightfully deserve,” President Aquino’s spokesperson, Edwin Lacierda, said in a statement after Zubiri announced his resignation from the Senate.

Lacierda said Malacañang respected Zubiri’s decision to quit.

“It represents a way forward to start healing the wounds of the past. We thank him for the service he has given our countrymen,” Lacierda said.
