LP Senate slate to visit Cebu next week
AFTER yesterday’s rally by the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), the Liberal Party’s senatorial lineup will arrive in Cebu for their own sortie on Feb. 19 and 20.
Rep. Tomas Osmeña of Cebu City’s south district said the LP rally won’t be as big as the UNA sorties and he doesn’t know if President Benigno Aquino III will attend the LP Cebu rally next week.
But he said a bigger LP rally will be held in Cebu City since it will be attended by top leaders of the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan’s (BO-PK) next month.
“I am not in the mood for organizing a (political) rally at his point in time,” said Osmeña in a press conference held at his Guadalupe home yesterday morning.
The LP candidates will visit towns and cities in Cebu on Feb. 19 and then head to Cebu City the next day.
“They said that they will be sending someone here but they have not sent someone here and I don’t know what to do,” Osmeña said.

Osmeña said Sen. Francis Escudero will head the BO-PK list for the Multicabs he gave to the city’s 80 barangays.
“I want to give him special treatment as compared to others who haven’t given us anything,” the congressman said.
Osmeña also said the “Type O” Valentine’s Day ad published in local dailies today was contributed by some businessmen friends.
He said the ad was paid for by his businessman friends.
A second publication of the ad will happen on Valentines Day. “It doesn’t have my name and face on it,” Osmeña said.
Osmeña said he’s not yet an official candidate until the local campaign period starts on March 29.
He also said he doesn’t own the “Type O” which is now a commercially registered trademark also made by some businessmen friends.
The Osmeña camp said it was Basak San Nicolas barangay captain George Rama who coined the “type O” name in reference to the BO-PK supporters and allies. Their youth supporters made the type O design.
“I am just paying them (businessman friends) royalty because it (the design) works very well for me,” he said. Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
