First Family escapes Wild Rice

THE FIRST FAMILY Appliance Circle ’96 kept their composure to hack out a 57-53 win over Wild Rice 2007 in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association’s 12th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup last Sunday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

The win was their third in as many games and gave them the solo lead in the standings early in the tournament.

Rex Alinson scored 12 points and added four rebounds, while Franklin Neil Ong chipped in 10 points.

Dreyfuss Ang scored only eight, but made a substantial contribution with eight assists, five rebounds and four steals in a solid all-around effort that helped Class ’96 get a 49-32 lead heading to the final stretch.

In the other game, Bryan Harry Labus scattered 17 points as JV Shop n Shop snapped out of its two-game slump with a 55-51 conquest of Fil-Ann 2009.

Alfie Dwight Miranda Sy was the lone bright spot for Class 2009 with 31 points. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
