Igi Maximo begins title defense in Tour ni Frank

UP-AND-COMING cyclist Luis Miguel “Igi” Maximo will be coming back to the place where it all started as he defends his juniors title in the Tour ni Frank Cycling Challenge, which starts today at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

Maximo started to make a name for himself in the cycling scene by winning this race. And he hopes to set the nostalgia aside and repeat once again as champion even as he is based already based in Manila, where he is in college at the Ateneo de Manila University.

“The race is very close to my heart. This is where I started my junior cycling career,” said Maximo.

The race kicks off with the Stage 1 Criterium Race, wherein the competitors will complete a 40-minute + 3 laps around the circuit. Tomorrow will be the Climbing Road Race, which will start in Toledo City going to Balamban. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
