Hostage drama ends in Pasig

Five hours after   he took four members of his family,  including  his mother, and two of their housemaids hostage in Pasig City Friday, Emerson Go peacefully surrendered to the police later in the evening.

Go, 31, gave up after talking to a friend for the release of his mother Mildred, 66, two nephews aged eight and five, a four-year-old niece, and two helpers whom he had kept   inside the family-owned St. Gabriel International School  in Barangay Palatiw.

Senior Insp. Rodrigo de Dios  earlier said Go was armed with two handguns when the incident was first reported to the police at around 2:40 p.m.

De Dios said  Go’s initial demand was to bring his wife and three children  to him in Pasig.

However, after talking to his  friend who acted as  negotiator, Go agreed to surrender.

The police are investigating the angle of family problems as the motive behind the incident.
