City Hall workers to get P10,000 bonus

THE Cebu City Council passed   Supplemental Budget 3 amounting to  P73.8 million yesterday.

This covers the bonus of  City Hall’s  5,000 employees  for the amount of  P10,000, instead of P20,000 as promised by Mayor Michael Rama.
Additional bonuses will be  released on December 26 and not during the City Hall employees Christmas party on Friday.

Councilor Augustus Pe Jr. told the City Council that the City Treasurers Office may not finish the payrolls for the bonus on Friday.

The Bando Osmena Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK) dominated council convened for a special session at 1 p.m. yesterday for thebudget hearing with members of the Local Finance Committee and City Administrator Jose Marie Poblete.

After almost two hours, the council agreed to  pass SB3 which will be funded from Personnel Services (PS) savings.

Villarete said  the P49.6 million savings were taken from unspent   appropriations of  unfilled positions and savings made because of employee  retirements. /Chief of Reporters Doris C. Bongcac
