Anti-human trafficking stickers posted on PUVs
THE Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) joined the international celebration of the “Day Against Human Trafficking” last Dec. 12 by posting anti-human trafficking posters on the public utility buses at the Cebu North and South bus terminals and on passenger jeepneys in Metro Cebu.
Twenty-five staff from the DSWD-7 wearing red t-shirts joined the activity, along with the members of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Trafficking or RIACAT.
This year’s celebration had the theme “Komunidad at pamahalaan magkakaisa, human trafficking ay wakasan na.”
DSWD-7 Women’s Welfare specialist Rosemarie Salazar said the international and cross border trafficking of women and children remains one of the worst forms of human rights violations and it continues to increase.
This nationwide campaign brings together all the other active government agencies and non-government organizations determined to stop human trafficking and violence against women and children.
