Hospital loses P50,000, gadgets to burglars

A CEBU City hospital lost P50,000 in cash, two gadgets worth at least P32,000 to burglars last Sunday.

Rev. Mequias Camba Jr., chief executive officer of Visayas Community Medical Center, discovered the break in at 1:30 p.m. last Sunday and reported it to the police.

Camba, 63, told the police that everything was there when he left last Saturday evening.

The burglars took the cash, a laptop worth P28,000, and a sub woofer worth at least P5,000.

Investigation showed that perpetrators entered Mequias office by destroying the exhaust fan of the office’s comfort room.

Donations

Camba said that the cash was donated by different churches intended for the new building of the hospital.

The laptop was assigned to his office.

Fingerprints

Yesterday noon, 10 hospital employees from utility, engineering and maintenance, were asked to report to the Crime Scene Investigation office to have their fingerprints taken.
