MAN KILLED WHILE DRIVING HOME

A 32-YEAR-OLD man was shot dead by motorcycle-riding assailants while he was driving home with his wife and their four-year-old child in barangay Cabungahan, Naga City, southern  Cebu.

Joel Mangubat sustained a gunshot wound in the head. He was brought to the Minglanilla District Hospital but was declared dead by the attending doctor.

The attack happened around 8 p.m. Friday.

Police said the victim noticed that a motorcycle with two men on board was tailing them and then tried to overtake.

Mangubat tried to pull over when the backrider of the other motorcycle shot him, police said.

The assailants drove off after the attack, said SPO1 Arturo Andales of Naga police.

The victim’s wife told police that she was not able to recognize the assailants.

MAN NABBED FOR DRUGS

POLICE arrested a 40-year-old man in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Poblacion, Borbon, northern Cebu.

Rodrigo “Digoy” Montebon Modequillo was arrested after he allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu to PO2 Bernardino Almedia Jr. who acted as a poseur buyer past 7 p.m. last Thursday.

Police seized two small sachets of shabu and four P100 bills from Modequillo’s possession.

The suspect was detained pending the filing of charges against him, police said./Correspondent Joy Cherry S. Quito

MAN DIES IN CAMOTES MISHAP

A MAN died while his friend was injured after the motorcycle they were riding  crashed in barangay Pigis, Poro town in Camotes Island, Cebu.

Jared Balde was declared dead when he and Felino Torres were brought to a hospital.

Police said the two men were drunk when they met the accident around 2 a.m. Thursday.
