Cop hurt as service firearm goes off
A POLICEMAN was wounded after his service firearm accidentally went off while he and fellow policemen were conducting a saturation drive in barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.
PO2 Dennis Mosqueda was wounded in the right leg.
The incident was an accident, said Senior Supt. Melvin Ramon Buenafe, chief of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).
Buenafe said the CCPO will help Mosqueda with his hospital bills.
Mosqueda’s caliber .45 pistol will be examined to find out if it was defective, said Buenafe.
Mosqueda and other members of the City Intelligence Branch were about to leave after the saturation drive last Monday night when the accident occurred.

Article continues after this advertisementFellow policemen brought Mosqueda to Chong Hua Hospital.
The saturation drive resulted in the confiscation of 16 video karera machines. No one was arrested during the operation.
