DOJ uses iPad to run offices

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Justice (DOJ) has purchased 19 units of iPad3 tablets for P591,312.30.

Based on its purchase order published at the government’s website, the unit with 16GB storage with Wi-Fi and 4G capacity costs P31,121.70 each. Aside from the units, included in its purchase are leatherette casing, screen protector and anti-glare screen.

The iPads will be for official use of various offices in the Department, the purchase order stated.

The DOJ’s financial service has received a copy of the purchase order on Nov. 8 and the units will be delivered 30 days after payment following government procedure.

“As per Assec. Sy, (DoJ Assistant Secretary Geronimo Sy) it’s for portable functionality of the management team to increase efficiency. This is now a basic tool. Laptops we use for heavy documents,” Justice Secretary Leila De Lima told INQUIRER.net in a text message.
