Agro-Macro crushes San Vicente in J Centre hoop

AGRO-MACRO Subdivision overpowered San Vicente Village, 82-62, as “Lord of the Rings • Battle of the Villages,” the new HoopStars series opened Sunday evening at the J Centre basketball court.

In another game, Summerville overwhelmed Villa Leyson, 61-39, in the Christmas hoopfest sponsored by Dunkin’ Donuts, Jonie’s Flavored Chicken and Dragon Fireworks.

Johnel Tagalog scored 22 points to lead Agro-Macro to victory.

Meanwhile, Jasper Loreto scored 11 points as John Bernie Ares and Franco Cipriano had 10 each to lift Summerville of Cordova town against Villa Leyson of Bacayan, Cebu City.

In the HoopStars 19-under teens category, St. Paul College (SPC) of Bakilid defeated Palm Heights, 52-38, with Richard Mark Abrigo scoring 15 points for SPC.

Also, St. Louis College Cebu (SLCC) of Sudlon mangled the other team from Bakilid, Benedicto College (BC), 49-28.

Thirteen adult open teams joined the new HoopStars serieswhile six teams are competing in the 19-under category.

Other than the four teams that played during the opening day, the other adult open teams include Bridgeville, Briza Subdivision, Lahug (Springdale Titans), Garden Bloom Acres Subdivision, San Antonio Village, Hermag Village, Ramirez Compound, La Aldea del Rio and Panagdait. The tournament is organized by Perfect 10 Promotions of Golden A’Corn Consultants. /pr
