Demecillo KOs Tuyor in M’daue encounter
Philippine super flyweight champion Marco Demecillo Singwangcha kept his unbeaten record Sunday night after scoring a third round stoppage of Jessie Tuyor in the main event of the ‘Fighters of the Future’ card at the Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex.
Both fighters started like a house on fire before Demecillo stepped up his body assault in the second round. However, one of Tuyor’s punches managed to open a cut on Demecillo’s right eyebrow.
This only enraged Demecillo further as he came out firing in the third round. Demecillo pounded Tuyor’s midsection sending the latter crashing to the canvas with two hard hooks to the ribs. Referee Tony Pesons counted Tuyor out at 2:13 of the third.
Demecillo, who fights out of the RWS Gym of Labangon, got additional cash incentives from his sponsor, Thai boxing patron and promoter Naris Singwangcha, who also gave added cash rewards to the winners of the card.
Demecillo, whose title was not at stake in this bout, extended his unbeaten run to 18W-0L-1D, with 14 KOs. Tuyor suffered his eighth loss in sixteen bouts.
