DAVAO CITY, Philippines—A militiaman and two suspected New Peoples’ Army guerillas were killed in an encounter in a remote village in the Marilog district of Davao, the military reported Wednesday.

The incident skirmish occurred Tuesday after government forces responded to a report about the presence of NPA rebels in Malamba village, according to Captain Harold Ho, civil-military operations officer of the Army’s 103rd Infantry Brigade.
