ZGiuseppe, Canduman win openers
ZGiuseppe FC and Canduman FC opened their title-retention bids on a strong note after winning all of their matches yesterday at the start of the 15th Aboitiz Football Cup at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Giuseppe won its matches in the players 6, players 10 and boys 12 while Canduman triumphed in the players 8, players 10 and boys 14.
Giuseppe blanked Children’s Paradise Montessori School (CPMS), 2-0, in the players 6; routed Cebu International School (CIS), 5-1, in the players 10 and outsmarted Holy Infant School, 2-0, in the boys 12.
Canduman, on the other hand, edged St. John-Kenty, 2-1, in the players 8; demolished CPMS, 10-0, in the players 10 and squeaked past Don Bosco-1, 2-1, in the boys 14.
The school with the most titles last year—Don Bosco Technology Center won only one of its numerous matches.
Only Don Bosco-2 barged into the win column with a 5-1 win over Dinamo South in the boys 12.

In the players 6, Ateneo de Cebu blanked VEPS, 2-0.
In the players 8, CIS routed Don Bosco-1, 9-0; Lahug B streaked past Don Bosco C, 1-0; University of San Carlos BED (USC-BED) annihilated Centre for International Education (CIE), 6-0; CPMS edged Don Bosco D, 3-2; while the Bright Minds in Action Learning Village (BMALV) demolished Don Bosco A, 6-0.
In the players 10, St. John-Kenty scored a 1-0 win over Don Bosco 2; BMALV shocked Don Bosco 3, 1-0; Dinamo South FC outsmarted Ateneo de Cebu A, 3-0; while Subangdaku FC and Holy Infant School drew, 2-2.
In the boys 12, CIS had a 2-0 win over CPMS while in the boys 14 USC-BED and Abellana National School (ANS) Pomeroy won their first assignments.
USC-BED dumped Ateneo de Cebu B, 2-0, while ANS Pomeroy blanked SJS-M, 7-0.
Action in the inter-company, 38-Above and boys 23 commence today.
