NCAA, UAAP junior champs collide

/ 07:01 AM November 24, 2012

THE TWO CHAMPIONS of the country’s top leagues clash today as the NCAA juniors rulers San Beda Red Cubs take on the UAAP juniors champions Far Eastern University for a slot in the semifinals in the Philippine Secondary Schools Basketball Championship at the Chiang Kai Shek College gym in Manila.

The Red Cubs went untouched in group play as they swept all four of their opponents, thanks to the consistent play of Arvie Tolentino, JV Mocon and Alejandro Inigo.

In contrast, FEU finished with a 2-2 (win-loss) record but is expected to go all out today behind reigning two-time juniors MVP, the sought-after Cebuano Jerie Marlon Pingoy.

Also facing off for tickets to the semifinal round are Hope Christian High School and Xavier School while Chang Kai Shek School battle the Letran Squires. San Sebastian also takes on the University of Santo Tomas. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
