1st Colonnade Mall Youth chess kicks off tomorrow

COLONNADE Mall will stage another chess tournament this coming weekend dubbed the 1st Colonnade Mall Youth Open Chess Tournament.

The Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) tournament will be held at the activity center of its main branch in Colon Street, Cebu City.

The tournament aims to develop the quality of chess in Cebu, especially to the younger generation.

Rose Pharmacy, one of the leading supporters of grassroots chess, will again lend its hand in the tournament along with A1 Handless Inc., Engineer and Architect. Jefrey M. Solis and Colonnade Mall. The tournament will be a seven-round Swiss System format with a 30-minutes time control.

Cash prizes await the winners. Registration starts at 12 noon on Saturday while game proper starts at 1:30 pm.

FIDE Arbiters Marvin Ruelan and Roger Abella will handle the tournament. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
