MANILA, Philippines—Bayan Muna Representative Teodoro “Teddy” Casiño said Monday the present leadership of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is doing the right thing in cleaning up the party-list system.
In an interview on “Banner Story” program on Radyo Inquirer 990 AM early Monday, he explained how as early as 2001, Bayan Muna has already filed petitions to disqualify some accredited groups they viewed as abusing the party-list system.
He said though they were able to disqualify a few “bogus” groups, the Comelec officials in 2004, 2007 and 2010 had been very lenient in accrediting more applicants.
“Banner Story” is the newest daily morning show of Radyo Inquirer 990 AM. It is hosted by veteran journalists Arlynn dela Cruz and Jake Maderazo.
