BOC five wins Arena-7 opener

THE Bureau of Customs beat the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), 79-68, last Tuesday at the start of the Association of Regional Executives in National Agencies (ARENA)-7 basketball tournament at the DPWH covered court.

Customs jumped to a scorching, 35-18 lead in the opening period and increased its advantage to 27 points at the half.

However, DOST responded with a blistering 15-5 rally in the third led by Anthony Dinglasa, Rio Composo and Diony Rectaso to trim its deficit to 17, 47-64, going to the final quarter.

DOST continued its onslaught in the fourth period with another 21-15 run but fell short of snatching the win.

Ronan Canete and Ferdie Laraga led Customs with 17 and 12 points, respectively, while Anthony Dinglasa and Rio Composo paced DOST with a game-high 25 and 14 points, respectively. /Correspondent Dale Rosal
