Girl with leukemia needs chemo
Unlike other children with leukemia who are too weak to even attend school, Jared Lois Todio regularly attends her kindergarten class.
Her mother, Cherryvel, told the Inquirer that Jared, the eldest of her three children, is turning six years old on November 16.
“Despite her illness, I enrolled her in a preparatory school not only to introduce her to reading and writing but also to let her know that the hospital is not the place she can go to,” she said. “So far, she has not been absent. She’s enjoying it.”
Of the 12 maintenance chemotherapy sessions doctors at Philippine Children’s Medical Center have prescribed for her, Jared has so far completed eight.
The ninth is scheduled on October 26. The total cost per session is P56,000, including medicines and other medical fees.
