UP Cebu looking for next dean

WITH the term of the incumbent dean of the University of the Philipines (UP) Cebu expiring on Nov. 30, president Alfredo E. Pascual issued an order jumpstarting the search for the next dean.

Pascual designated Prof. Juanito Karl Roque Jr. of UP Cebu’s fine arts program as chairman of the search committee that will assist the Board of Regents in choosing the next dean from a pool of nominees through administrative order PAEP 12-61 dated Sept. 14.

The committee will accept nominations until Friday, Oct. 5.

The minimum qualifications for nomination to the post of UP Cebu dean are: commitment to academic freedom and the values and ideals of the university, distinction or outstanding academic credentials in the nominee’s chosen field of expertise which should be along the lines of the college’s disciplines or fields, Filipino citizenship, leadership qualities and administrative of managerial capability, willingness to serve and conviction that resource generation is an important function of the position.

The nominee need not be a faculty member.

Personnel, students and alumni of UP Cebu may submit nominations. Others from outside the unit may also nominate. Anyone who meets the qualifications may apply.

The nominators are required to submit a duly signed letter justifying their nomination and a three-page summary of a nominee’s curriculum vitae.
