Trike driver killed, three hurt in disco shootings

A 25-year-old trisikad driver was shot dead while three neighbors were wounded in separate shooting incidents in southern parts of Cebu.

Bernabe Debuayan was shot dead by an unidentified assailant while he was watching a disco in barangay Consolacion, Dalaguete town.

Three men were also wounded in a shooting inside a disco in barangay Cantabaco, Toledo City.

Police are still investigating the motive in the killing of Debuayan, who served as a witness in a murder case, said PO2 Godofredo Glipa of the Dalaguete police.

Police said Debuayan was sitting on a bench watching a disco when he was shot from behind past 4 a.m. yesterday.

Police said the assailant hid behind a metal fence about a meter from the victim.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound in the head. He was brought to the Julio Cardinal Rosales Memorial Hospital but the attending physician declared him dead.

In Toledo City, habal-habal driver Marvin Quillobe, 32, shot and wounded Paul Wilson Escaran, 19; Felix Secuya, 39, a construction worker; and Harty Mae Abatayo, 23, after they argued over a woman past 4 a.m. yesterday.

Police said the three men were on the dance floor when they suddenly argued.

While arguing, Quillobe drew a gun and shot the three victims.

Escaran sustained gunshot wounds in the back, left hand and left leg. Secuya was hit in the left arm while Abatayo was wounded in the left leg.

The victims were brought to a hospital while the suspect fled.
