Altas, Bombers hope to keep hold of semis spots

THE Perpetual Help Altas and the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers try to maintain their slots in the Final Four and keep away from the pursuing Letran Knights when they square off against separate foes today in the 88th NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the Arena in San Juan City.

Perpetual battles the Arellano University Chiefs while JRU takes on the Lyceum Pirates. The Altas and the Bombers are both tied with 8-5 (win-loss) records for the third and fourth spots in the standings. However, the Knights are breathing down their necks with an 8-6 card.

The two teams are also hoping to bounce back from losses in their previous games.

The Altas were upset by the Emilio Aguinaldo Generals, 71-73, in a loss that saw them bungle a 17-point third period lead. JRU on the other hand, was crushed by the reigning champions, San Beda Red Lions, 45-67. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
