NAGA CITY, Philippines—The widow of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo confirmed on Friday that some persons tried to get inside their condominium unit in Quezon City the morning after the plane carrying her husband from Cebu crashed off Masbate on August 18.

Leni Robredo, however, could not name who those persons were, as she was just informed by their house help that there were persons trying to get inside the house “to get Jesse’s papers.”

“I told our helper not to let them in,” Leni said in a text message to the Inquirer.

Leni said she was with Social Welfare Secretary Dinky Soliman at that time and that Soliman knew about the incident.  She said Soliman helped her seek assistance in securing the papers afterwards.

Leni clarified that the helper did not identify who those persons were.

But a source, who refused to be identified due to the sensitive nature of the issue, alleged that before those unidentified men tried to get inside Robredo’s unit, the visitors’ log of the condo listed the names of Department of Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Rico Puno, a certain Oliver Tanseco, one Apollo Togonon and a certain Pagdilao.

“Some persons also tried to get inside the office of the secretary at the central office of the DILG at the 10th floor of the Francisco Gold Condominium II along EDSA in Diliman (Quezon City),” added the same source.

The source said there were also persons who tried to get inside the Office of the Chairman of the National Police Commission, a post held by Jesse, along Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati City.

“The persons wanting to go inside the residence and offices of Jesse could have wanted to get papers that supposedly pertain to anomalous purchase of firearms,” the source alleged.
