Hit and run driver
A 15-year-old boy died and a 40-year-old woman was injured after they were sideswiped by a hit-and-run multicab pickup in barangay Catarman, Lilo-an town on Sunday.
Gabriel Tagalog was standing by the road side when he was hit past 5 a.m.
His relative Fe Delgado was also injured.
The multicab driver didn’t stop.
Police later traced the vehicle and arrested the driver, Alberto Siroy, 49, of barangay Poblacion, Lilo-an town.

A 45-year-old jeepney driver was shot in the face by his former bestfriend and neighbor last Saturday in barangay Poblacion, Consolacion town in northern Cebu.
Carlito Gaviola of barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City told police that he was driving his passenger multicab in front of a mall in Consolacion town when he was shot in the face at 1:45 p.m.
He was rushed to the hospital and survived the attack.
Witnesses identified Jovencito Canoy, Gaviola’s best friend, as the shooter, who fled after the shooting.
Police later arrested Canoy at his aunt’s house in barangay Pakna-an. A .38 caliber revolver was found in his possession.
Canoy said the shooting was in retaliation for Gaviola’s hitting him with a chair a few weeks ago. /Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
Tejero paregla
A group of bystanders attacked and robbed a 31-year-old security guard on Sunday in barangay Tejero, Cebu City.
Bernard Beneloac of the Archangel Security Agency was stabbed in the stomach and lost P2,500 cash in his wallet.
Beneloac told police that he was walking along General Maxilom Extension when he passed a group of bystanders having a drinking session.
He was offered a drink but he refused. The bystanders got angry and attacked him. He fought but he was stabbed and his wallet taken.
Relatives brought him to the hospital for treatment.
He later reported the incident to police, who believed the attack was a paregla. /Correspondent Chito O. ARagon
Naga hacking
After hacking his wife and the man she was with, Dick John Dioda showed no remorse for the violence.
Dioda, a timekeeper of Cebu Doctor’s University (CDU) said he could not forgive his wife, Charlotte, for being unfaithful.
He said he found the two together in their bedroom when he arrived from work past midnight last Sunday in barangay Tuyan, Naga City. /REporter Rhea Ruth V. Rossell
Danao shooting
A 23-year-old man was shot and wounded in the leg as he was driving his motorcycle in barangay Looc, Danao City yesterday.
Medz Alvaro was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Alvaro later identified his shooter as Vinc Relampagos, whom he claimed to be the son of SPO3 Jose Relampagos of the Tuburan police.
But SPO3 Relampagos said in a phone interview, he didn’t have a son, named Vince.
