2 HURT IN BRIDGE MISHAP

TWO persons were wounded in a five-vehicle accident in the Marcelo Fernan Bridge in Mandaue City on Thursday.

Police said an Isuzu tanker with plate number YAT-209 lost its brakes and hit a Suzuki Jitney with plate number GXE-719.

The tanker was driven by Martiniano Inocian, 37.

The impact created a domino effect in the descending portion of the bridge.

The Jitney hit a Toyota Innova which slammed into an Isuzu van which also hit a Toyota Fortuner SUV.

Injured in the accident were the driver of the Jitney, Methosaleh Jalop and his passenger Bernadeth Jaca, 28. They were treated at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

The accident caused a traffic obstruction in the lane bound for Mandaue City.

VENDOR STABS TRIKE DRIVER

A 30-YEAR-OLD tricycle driver was stabbed and wounded by his neighbor in barangay San Roque, Talisay City, southern Cebu.

Enriquez Ramirez was wounded in the left armpit.

The suspect Crisanto dela Torre, a 40-year-old mango vendor, fled after the incident.

The two neighbors chanced upon each other along a road last Thursday night.

Police said Dela Torre asked Ramirez to pay for mangoes that he previously bought.

This irked Ramirez who choked the vendor and then left after warning that he would return.

Moments later, when Ramirez returned the vendor stabbed him with a kitchen knife.

Ramirez was taken to the Talisay City District Hospital before he was moved to a hospital in Cebu City. /CORRESPONDENT GABRIEL C. BONJOC
